One who joins the U.S. Military is administered the oath of enlistment. Implicit in this oath is the possibility of losing one’s life (death). Those who do not consider the whole cost, have not thought this decision through properly. Placing one’s self in “harm’s way” is a very serious undertaking. I first took this oath back in 1958. Our nation was far different spiritually back then. Now our armed forces are used more as a mercenary force to bring in one world government. When I joined the military during the Cold War era it was to protect our nation by stopping Communism. We thought of ourselves as the nation’s defense. Today the military no longer seems to be defending the U. S. Constitution. There used to be a concept called the JUST WAR THEORY. We didn’t go to war unless the cause seemed just. This no longer seems to be the case. What does this have to do with the heavy subject of death? Our nation no longer seems to care what God thinks. It no longer seems to matter whether we are on the side of right or wrong. Those who swear by Allah (a majority at the UN) do not honor the same God Christians honor. Does this matter? After death we all go somewhere. Either to Heaven or to Hell! So whether we are following Godless leadership or not does matter eternally. The word, death is mentioned 410 times in 45 of the 55 books of the Bible. The word, life, is mentioned 678 times. These two important words provide critical guidance from God in where we go in eternity following death. Those who volunteer to be place in “harm’s way” better know what God thinks concerning this vital matter of life and death. His protect is critical. Early death can be a great tragedy if one is on the wrong path morally. A great tragedy! The Book of Revelation mentions a second death which is far worse than the first death: Revelation 2:11; 20:6, 14; and 21:8. Those considering enlisting today should study out these and other key biblical passages concerning death such as Hebrews 2:15, Psalms 25:19, Romans 9:22, Revelations 6: 4 and 8, Romans 1:32 and Revelations 1:18 to name a few verses. VFW members are in the waning years of their lives and should be getting their affairs in order before meeting their maker. Also we are likely to have grandchildren considering enlistment or in the service and should talk with them about such weighty affairs. The young are full of a sense of adventure. Many don’t give death much thought until it stares them in the face. Who we swear our allegiance to is important. An earthly source has no spiritual power in its own right. The one mentioned in Revelations 1:18 who holds the keys of death in His Mighty Hand we should fear. Today more than ever we need to be looking to Him.

Someone convinces you, or you convince yourself something false is true, or something true is false. In such a state you are deceived. Sun Tzu wrote The Art of War, a classic:  “All warfare is based on deception….”  500 years later Jesus Christ and his apostles Peter, John and Paul warned us about this tactic. God uses deceiving and being deceived in sixteen Old Testament books and eighteen New Testament books. Today half the citizens think the other half are deceived.  That is quite a division. Jesus said it would be so in the last days. The book speaking the most about deception is Revelation. The great Deceiver is on the scene. Those who read this book are promised a blessing (1:3). Job 12:16 says: “With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.”  How To keep from being deceived? The  “discerning of spirits” is an important spiritual gift. In a bible study I tracking this word and concluded it is impossible without God’s help. Jeremiah 37:9 warns not to deceive themselves. Yet they ended up doing just that. Their city was destroyed and they went into seventy years of captivity in Babylon. By the time of Jesus’ first coming 2,000 years ago the nation of Israel was totally blinded spiritually. They failed to recognize the time of their visitation. Their temple and city was destroyed and the people who did not flee were killed or enslaved. Christ warned them it would happen. Galatians 6:7 warns us: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for what soever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Read the newspapers. Watch the major news networks. Do you think much of what you are reading or hearing is the gospel truth? We are warned by God not to trust man. Too many do. No personal investigation. No research. Just trust the news. The democrats overwelmingly control what is reported. They also control the public education system. They lean only one way. It is not towards Jesus Christ. He warned us strongly in Matthew 24 four times not to be deceived. Ending with this verse 24: “For there shall arise false christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch, that if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”

There is power in declaring God’s Word into a troubling situation. We all need divine help. God will step in to perform his word where he sees biblical faith and is invited. We have authority to use his Word and Name in prayer. This world is fallen. Very vexing. Many choose a strategy of lying in tough situations rather than speaking truth. This is a time of accelerating apostasy and deception. Fake news is the reality. Powerful elites control MSM and hate alternative news. These elites don’t yet fully control us but the Bible tells us they will. They hate the Truth and we who believe. “Declare” is used 145 times by God. Job 22:28 tells us: “Thou shall also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.”Decree is interchangeable with declare and used 58 times. Scripture is clear. God promises to perform his word. But we must honor it. God decrees his will ahead of time to be carried out in due season. It never returns void.A believer’s ability to cooperate with God in this world to weld divine power like a two edged sword will give us the edge in our war against evil. In Luke 1:20 we see God’s will accomplished despite resistance. “And behold, thou shall be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed because thou believest not my words which shall be fulfilled in their season.” We see in 1 kings 8:20 Solomon talking about God performing his decree. God makes it clear in Ezekiel 12: 25. I am the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged…” When our actions, thought and speech are righteous; line up with God’s heart; good things happen. God is for us not against us. One cannot read through the Bible with an open heart and not see this clearly. In Matthew 22:29 “Jesus answered and said to them, Ye do err not knowing scripture nor the power of God.” Psalm 119, the longest psalm, is full of decrees and declarations. We see David’s heart in this psalm. This is why God honored and loved David. Learn like David did to declare God’s word. It brought him through many trials. It will serve you well.

Once you join a natural army part of your training is to learn how to defend yourself. You learn how to shoot a weapon, how to use the terrain to make it hard for the enemy to shoot at you and other defense techniques. When you start working with others in the organization to help each other to make a strong united defense than you are learning how to defend against a larger force. Then your organization starts to learn how to work with other organizations to make your defense even stronger against larger enemy forces. Somewhere along the way you learn about lines of defense, perimeter defense and mobile defenses. In the supernatural realm one of our main defenses is the protective power of the shed BLOOD of Jesus Christ. At the cross he disarmed all principalities and powers. He took back the keys to death and hell at the cross. The Cross of Jesus Christ where he died on our behalf is one our primary defenses. But you need to know about this sacrificial action and believe in its power for it to apply to you. Satan hates the cross. He hates it when you look to the cross. Are you ashamed of the cross or is it central to your belief system of protection? Learn about the power of the blood line in countering what satan wants to do against you and your family and cooperate with this powerful supernatural protection.

It is critical that individuals discipline themselves to be able to withstand the growing lack of discipline in the general population. This sin-filled world grows more dysfunctional  by the day. American history records great individual discipline and perseverance was common in most of the nation’s founders. Moral goodness was generally rooted in a holy fear of God. Our present day moral free fall is indisputable.  Scripture says “if the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3) Government is now failing us. Why? Proverbs 29:2 shows  “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule the people mourn.” The increasing absence of biblical morality and the growing micromanagement from the top are at the heart of our national dilemma. Leaders having removed the Bible and prayer from the equation no longer trust anyone. They, the elite, institute more laws in a vain attempt to control outcomes with little success. Government is increasingly hostile to the people of God which is the only reason God would bless any nation. Bible prophecy told us this would happen.  In their spiritual blindness the elite can’t see this. Their growing inability to demand the necessary discipline from themselves and their subordinates is at the heart of our exploding failures.  Long term efficiency and effectiveness is not possible for a nation outside of God’s help. We now see that when government fails no one high in the chain of command is being held accountable. The solutions applied to growing national and international problems: more promises, more need for money, and more need to tax those who are functional; only address symptoms, not real problems. A clear lack of individual discipline and accountabllity at the top is symptomatic of the real problem!  280 times in the Bible we find this word, discipline, or a variation. The Book of Life has much to say about this critical concept. The word is first mentioned in the Book of Job, 36:10: “He openeth also their ear to discipline and commandeth that they return from iniquity.”  There are two general kinds of discipline: internal and external. Most have little within themselves to get important personal and collective tasks done without “the fear of the LORD”. We need external discipline imposed on us by others to achieve important life objectives. There are always unpleasant consequences where a noted lack of discipline exists.  Why does America now lack the discipline necessary for continued greatness? We demonstrate our trust in God through obedience. Obedience takes discipline. Most have turned their backs on the God of the Bible. Therefore trouble grows all around those who believe. Look to Him in trouble. He is the God of Miracles. Those who look to Him will receive His Protection in meeting the growing challenges ahead of us. Outside of Christ there is no hope.

Major illnesses end prematurely the careers of many smart people. I speak of debilitating illnesses and infirmities. A harsher word is plagues. This is not God’s will for his people. Armies and societies fear plagues, rapidly spreading diseases, and so they should. They can incapacitate entire organizations. Sanitation and proper diet are critical institutional disciplines. Wars and plagues commingle as history and prophecy clearly illustrates. Consider “germ warfare.” The Book of Leviticus is full of dietary and sanitary laws; a major reason Israel prevailed against formidable societies around them. No other nation has such religious laws. Because many families don’t know enough about healthy eating habits and good sanitation; long term too many of us end up fighting major illnesses as we grow older. The word, disease, is used 34 times in the Bible. Infirmity, a similar word is used 22 times. We find the word, plague, 127 times. There is lots to learn by studying these words out. God wants his people healthy. He heals and delivers and expects cooperation. He makes important promises for those who look to him. Religions are not equal despite political correctness propaganda. The first use of disease is in Exodus 15:26 “And said, if thou wilt diligently harken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the God that healeth thee.” What a promise! Look at Psalm 91:10. “There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.” But we must dwell in the secret place (“in Christ”). This promise of divine protection is worth memorizing. Look up Matthew 4:24-25. Such actions of Jesus are not fairy tales. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. We all need a faith that can appropriate these wonderful promises. No matter our age it is never too late to change personal habits. Begin going to God for the help he freely gives to those who humble themselves and ask. Those who believe and truly join his army have a wonderful benefits . It is outlined in Psalm 103, verses two through five. Romans 4:21 assures us, What God promised, he is able to perform. See also Luke 1:37 and Romans 4:16.

This is certainly an interesting word, and definitely a military term. All of our branches of military service use this term in one way or another. It is usually used to describe a larger element of an organization’s combat force. In my last combat tour I fought as part of the 3rd Marine Division. Interestingly we also find this word in the Bible. God uses it to teach us some interesting things. It is in eight books of the Old Testament and in four books in the new. We find it thirty two times in scripture. The first place is in Exodus 8:23 where God separates Israel from Egypt as he brings judgment to Egypt. Next we see its use in the book of Joshua as they go to war in the promised land which is then divided up by tribe based on conquest. Then there is Jesus Christ’s famous statement in Luke 12:51 “Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division.” He goes on to tell how personal this division will effect families and members. Look at what is going on in America and around the world in light of what we know about this word in our day. The world is divided based on who stands with Jesus Christ and who doesn’t. Beliefs are important. People are making their eternal choices. Whose side are you on? Biblical doctrines cause division. The gospel is the standard the God of the Bible looks at to determine whether he is for us or against us. In light of II Corinthians 13:5 we are exhorted to examine ourselves to see if we be in the faith. Many are fighting God and don’t even know it.
