Jerusalem:
When you are in enemy controlled territory and set up a perimeter defense for the night you analysis the avenues of approach into your position that the enemy can use for an attack and set up your heavy weapons to defend in those areas where the enemy has ease of approach. You don’t assume it’s going to be any easy night. You plan for an attack. Where is the most likely direction of attack? So what does Jerusalem have to do with such thinking? The bible has a lot to say about this city. 830 times it is mentioned, but not once in the Koran. Yet the enemies of God are claiming this city for their own. The Temple Mount is the most prized piece of real estate in the world. 80 times throughout history this city has been taken and lost to foreign invasion. The first mention of it has to do with war. Right now it is surrounded by Israel’s enemies. The city of King David where Christ will soon return to set up His everlasting Kingdom is now surrounded by God’s enemies. If we want to know about where we are on the prophetic time table look toward Jerusalem. The generation that sees the Jews return to their land (Israel became a nation again in 1947) and the city recaptured by the Jews (1967) shall not pass, but will see Jesus return says bible prophecy. Seventy years is the stated normal life span (Psalm 91:10) so we are very close to “all these things being fulfilled.” We are to be sober and alert. When the enemy is about to attack the leader goes around the perimeter checking to see that his men are awake and alert, expecting what can come at any moment. Are you alert? The rapture is I believe imminent. Keep watch and pray always. Your redemption, saints, is at hand. Israel expects the enemy’s attack and is on high alert. (Zech 12:2, Ps 122:6, Gen 12:3)
